I went to a party tonight.
It was an interesting evening in a number of ways.
It was a small gathering, just a core number of close friends with some unrecognizable stragglers that fit right in.
Someone put on music in the background: I think it started with something from the seeds or maybe the 13th floor elevators. It was louder psychedelia.
Pleasantries aside, the discussion revolved around a number of topics. Film, literature, music. There was a sprinkling of dramatics mixed in as one individual and his girlfriend were disputing. The usual.
A couple of us went out to the car to smoke a joint.
It wasn't a "haha" high but more of a contented one. Naturally, perception evolved into another state.
I walked back to the garage door, cigarette in hand, and pushed it open.
It was a strangely iconic moment, that glimpse through the door. Just as the door swung against the jamb, the lilting, eerie guitar intro to that peculiar Chris Issak song began.
And I saw things in the most cliche sense of hollywood's idea of "slow motion." My head slowly moved from left to right, a camera on a tripod.
A game of beer pong on my left, shouting. An overturned drink.
Someone with a guitar sitting on a chair giving the game an evil eye.
An argument.
Scroll to the right and two young women are enjoying a joke.
Pan all the way right to the pool table. Standing across the table under a strangely bright light with a nicotine tainted halo is Holly, holding a pool cue. Eyes meet. Light dances around her hair. Smile. Music swells, fades. End scene.
Odd experience. Cant really explain what it was. The closest thing I can compare it to is watching one of those scenes from a film that's built around a particular song.
Thanks pot. _________________ Glockenspiel.. Look it up. |
